UK Tech Cluster Group Launches Associate Membership to Strengthen Regional Ecosystems

The UK Tech Cluster Group (UKTCG) is expanding its network with the launch of Associate Membership to ensure that regional tech clusters across the UK are recognised, supported and empowered to thrive.

A regional-first approach to tech growth

Regional tech ecosystems are best supported by organisations embedded in their communities with deep local knowledge and established networks. While national programmes and external interventions can bring valuable resources, a more sustainable approach is to strengthen the capacity of existing regional clusters to ensure that support is targeted, effective and aligned with local needs.

UKTCG is lobbying regional and national government to take this approach and invest in regional clusters. This will ensure that businesses receive the support they need in a lean and efficient manner while fostering long-term economic growth and greater collaboration between the digital sector and the wider business community in areas such as AI adoption and digital transformation.

Who can join

To qualify for Associate Membership organisations must:

  • Represent a specific geography in the UK
  • Credibly represent a significant part of their region’s tech ecosystem
  • Operate as not-for-profit or profit with purpose
  • Actively represent the interests of industry

This membership tier ensures regional clusters are well connected, able to share best practices and collectively advocate for stronger regional investment and policies.

How it works

  • The founding members of UKTCG will form a board and review applications on a quarterly basis
  • Each region will have a leading representative who will work with other clusters in their area to strengthen collaboration and provide local support

Benefits of Associate Membership

  • Knowledge sharing with other regional clusters
  • Collective lobbying efforts to influence policy
  • Access to regional and national events focused on cluster development and tech sector growth

Driving long-term growth and innovation

By extending its membership UKTCG is reinforcing its commitment to ensuring every region in the UK has a seat at the table when shaping the future of the tech industry. Through our lobbying efforts and engagement with government we are advocating for a regional-first approach that ensures investment and support go directly to the clusters that need it most.
